The Pupil Premium was introduced in April 2011 and is paid by means of a specific grant based on school census figures for students.
Pupil Premium is calculated by the number of students who have been registered as eligible for FSM (Free School Meals) at any time in the last six years, in addition to the number of looked after and adopted students who attend the school.
The Pupil Premium is additional to main school funding and its purpose is to narrow the achievement gap (attainment and progress) between pupils from low income families and their peers by ensuring that this funding reaches the pupils most in need of it. Schools have the freedom to spend this funding as they see fit based upon their knowledge of pupil needs.
Current funding rates for 2023 – 2024 is £1455 per PP (Pupil Premium) student and £2530 per LAC (Looked After Children) student.
