Our Eco-Committee is made up of staff and children who are passionate about making our school more sustainable and helping us become more aware of green issues.
The children are the driving force behind the Committee which meets on a regular basis to discuss new ideas and plan activities aimed at increasing environmental awareness.
Currently, they have the extremely important role of helping Yavneh Primary get their ‘Green Flag’ award and informing the children about how they can help with this. The ‘Green Flag’ award is presented to the school if they make sufficient progress with three out of ten chosen environmental topics. This is based on an environmental review of the school. The eco warriors have chosen:
- School Grounds
- Litter
- Recycling
Since being elected this year, the eco-warriors have already started to make changes in the school. They have launched a recycling poster competition to raise awareness about the importance of recycling. The children also thought of the idea of us celebrating World Recycling Day by wearing a green or recycled accessory. There are many other fantastic ideas in the pipeline!
