Intent
At Yavneh Primary school, we believe that from when the children enter the school, in Hachana, high quality Geography teaching and an understanding of the world is an important foundation to shaping them to understand and appreciate the world we live in.
The geography curriculum, at Yavneh Primary School, enables children to develop knowledge and skills that are transferrable to many other curriculum areas. They are provided with exciting learning opportunities to motivate and capture their curiosity. We also encourage children to learn through experiences, particularly through practical and fieldwork activities where they are able to apply their knowledge to observations and describing environments using geographical vocabulary. Children leave Kitta Vav with an appreciation of how the world works and of the connections between concepts such as community, cultural diversity and sustainability.
