Yom Ha’aztmaut
Yom Ha’atzmaut
Our blue and white day to celebrate all things Israel.
The children had a day filled with activities for all things Israel. There was cooking, dancing, map work and games.

They then write a balanced argument using the following question – Should all schools be allowed to have pets?
Our model text and our writing focus for the next week is about whether whales should be kept in captivity. The children watched some clips of orca shows in SeaWorld and were fascinated by this. They had some really interesting discussions about whether they thought this was fair to the whales.
Today the children explored the features in the text which will support them in their writing later on in the week.
As we went outside onto the playground this morning, we noticed something very unusual; It was a spaceship! The children looked at it and tried to work out what it was. We used binoculars to get a closer look at the details. We then had a discussion about whether there are aliens in it and, if there are, what do they look like? It’s very exciting!
To celebrate the Festival of Spoken Ivrit we watched a show about Eliezer Ben Yehuda and his son Tamar who revived Ivrit.
They taught them how to ride safely on the road and it was lovely to see all the children challenging themselves and out of their comfort zone.
The teacher’s and house captains stayed after school to turn the building into a Wonderland. We had an acting company come in and do workshops with the children, had lots of Alice themed activities and dove into the magical possibilities that books give us!
There were; circus shows, workshops, games and more. The children all had a wonderful day and it was lovely to see all their creative costumes.
1) complete a sudoku puzzle
2) go on a treasure hunt to find snowflakes around the classroom
3) unscrambling arctic words
4) completing and colouring in maths equations to reveal a bigger picture
We had a final challenge to match the Arctic sentences to the picture. We then got our final puzzle piece that made a picture of a polar bear.
